Julie Gates:After 10 years of serving as CEO for the Toronto Transit Commission,
Julie Gates:Rick Leary is stepping down.
Julie Gates:He led many firsts at the agency, including starting diversity, equity,
Julie Gates:and inclusion programs, and purchasing the agency's first battery electric bus.
Julie Gates:His final day will be August 30th.
Julie Gates:Good news coming from the Chicago Transit Authority.
Julie Gates:CTA provided nearly 28 million train and bus rides in May, and that is
Julie Gates:bringing the weekday ridership average up to 1 million for the first time
Julie Gates:since the start of the pandemic.
Julie Gates:And congratulations to Helen Antenucci at the Massachusetts
Julie Gates:Bay Transportation Authority.
Julie Gates:The Guinness Book of World Records has just recognized the 81 year old
Julie Gates:as the world's oldest train operator.
Julie Gates:She operates the Blue Line and says, every day I get up and do what I love to do.
