Julie Gates:Congestion pricing was scheduled to begin in New York City at the end of
Julie Gates:this month, charging up to 15 tolls for driving in a gridlocked part of Manhattan.
Julie Gates:Advocates who've seen this type of program help cities like London and
Julie Gates:Stockholm believe congestion pricing in New York would help eliminate traffic,
Julie Gates:reduce reduce greenhouse emissions, and bring necessary revenue to the
Julie Gates:Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Julie Gates:But the governor of New York stopped the program indefinitely before it even
Julie Gates:started, saying the program could cause more financial burden to those who are
Julie Gates:still recovering from the pandemic.
Julie Gates:And watch out for dad jokes, as many transit agencies are posting tributes
