:camera assisted bus lane enforcement
pilot that showed an average of 4,000

:weekly violations occurred along
just two bus routes that were studied

:over the spring and early summer.

:The findings are intended to
raise awareness about the safety

:issues these violations create.

:and informed discussions
about enforcement solutions.

:The 70 day pilot program identified
key hotspots where vehicles were

:illegally parked in transit zones.

:A camera system was mounted inside
seven buses and automatically detected

:illegally parked vehicles in the
bus only lanes and at bus stops.

:The study documented over 36,000 total
parking obstructions in the pilot
14
:zone and showed that 50 percent of bus
stops were obstructed at some point.

:Both New York City and San Francisco's
MTA have used this technology that

:has helped improve average bus
speeds and reduce bus collisions.
